Route: Moscow — Sergiew Posad — Alexandrov — Yaroslavl — Semibratovo — Rostov Veliky — Pereslavl Zalessky — Moscow
We offer you to experience Russia in a different way! Board our steam train to explore the towns of the Golden Ring to the North from Moscow. You will escape from hustle of Russian capital to see a different facet of Russian life.
In the morning, our steam train is taking you to the largest and most important Orthodox monastery – the St. Sergius Trinity Lavra, located 42 miles northeast of Moscow in the town of Sergiev Posad. This monastery is named after one of Russia’s most venerated saints – St. Sergius of Radonezh – and all year long people stand in line to bow and pray before his remains. On a guided tour you will learn about the history of this monastery that nowadays bought back its status of the main Russian pilgrimage site.
Your train trip continues to Alexandrov. After a lunch, we visit the oldest residence of the Russian Tsars. It is hard to believe that this small town was once a center of the Moscow state. We are amazed not only by the artfully decorated churches, but also by the stories from the times of Ivan IV the Terrible.
We board the train to reach the final destination of the day, the town of Yaroslasvl. On the way, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the provincial Russia accompanied by lyric melodies played by an invited musician. Or join us to taste the traditional Russian drink – the vodka! You sample several kinds of vodka, learn how to properly toast & drink or even understand Russian soul.
In the evening, we will arrive in Yaroslavl where you will be transferred to the hotel for overnight.
Start you day with sightseeing of Yaroslavl, unofficial capital of the Golden Ring! You will stop at Transfiguration monastery, the oldest monastery in Yaroslavl. If you would like to capture some great views, you might climb the bell tower (optional at the extra cost). You will continue by walking along the embankment to see the stunning views of the Volga river. You will have a stop at the Church of Elijah the Prophet, masterpiece of Yaroslavl architects.
For the rest of the day we will travel by bus that takes us next to the village of Semibratovo. Here you will learn about everyday life of peasant from this area and learn about production of wooden utensils. We invite you for a cup of tea with homemade marmalade. You will have to guess if it is made of tomatoes, bumps or cucumbers.
At lunch time, we arrive in Rostov Veliky. After lunch break, we let the frescoes in the Kremlin churches affect us. In front of the city, the Savior-Jakob-Monastery is reflected in the lake – a magical sight & a stunning view.
Before to arrive in Alexandrov for dinner we will make a stop in the town of Pereslavl Zalessky. Here you will learn about the youth of Russian Emperor Peter the Great. It is here where he mastered his ship building skills and the Russian fleet was born. After dinner you will board the train & head to Moscow where your journey started.
